This project involved the use of 73 tons of 0.7 mm thick Tecu Bronze – KME).
The bronze was shaped into three-dimensional prismatic chevron-style mouchrabieh panels, mounted on custom Iroko wood subframes and frames over shopfronts and streets gates…
The mouchrabieh pattern is meant to mirror the stone chevron pattern of the souks stone cladding.
It was also used in the fabrication of fresh air grills with UPN 300-shaped profiles, as well as shopfronts, window sills, and jambs—with some shopfront jambs reaching a seamless height of 7 meters.
Additionally, an interlocking panel cladding system was employed throughout.
The sills and jambs were installed on custom-designed cement boards supported by stainless steel and 316-grade stainless steel structures.
Also, traditional double lock Tecu Oxide standing seem roofing was done.
These works spread over:
- 408 shop fronts with subframes, bronze UPN, fresh air grills, sills and jambs.
- 100 moucharabieh elements over shopfronts each made of 6 panels
- 3 moucharabiah elements over three streets entries.
- 318 windows with sills and jambs
- 5 roof shafts with Tecu Oxid double lock standing seam roofing
- 1 zinc roof
The works required creating special profiling galleys and equipping ISOTECH SAL with tools to enable a mass yet detail oriented.
Execution details and drawings as well as custom tooling were designed inhouse.
75 technicians and workers were involved in the Beirut Souks project.
